The world's Popular Coffee species threatened with extinction
Coffee now so one of the most popular beverages in the world. However, the popularity of coffee can culminate in rarity or even extinction.
The latest research shows 60 percent of coffee plants, which are found in the wild may soon become extinct. Wild coffee species need habitat to survive.
The study, published Science Advances in this State, the Central coffee species are in danger. This could be solved if the Government and the coffee producers increase protection for species of coffee and cultivating more of his seed.
This study found, 75 of 124 types of endangered wild coffee. About 35 of 124 species that grow in the area without the protection of conservation. The most popular types of coffee, Arabica, the entry in the list. Arabica even predicted it could be extinct period of 60 years.
Researchers from the Kew Royal Gardens, United Kingdom, call, climate change, deforestation, drought, crop diseases and the cause of the coffee's future in jeopardy.
"Given the threat of human encroachment and deforestation, some (species of coffee) could become extinct in 10 to 20 years, particularly with the additional influence of climate change, " said researcher Aaron P Davis told CNN.
Aaron call, coffee plants grow in a natural habitat that is very specific. Temperature rise and increased precipitation caused by climate change coffee can't grow infertile.
Researchers assess, diversity is important to make this coffee plant genetically modified coffee. It is useful to develop a coffee stand on climate change and pest.
"The first thing to do is to preserve it in the wild, so we need to improve the management of protected areas and also need to appoint a new protected area, " said Davis
